Academic Requirement

Double Degree Programs

Currently, IE&M has five dual-degree programs with foreign university partners, i.e., Hiroshima University Japan, National Chiao Tung University Taiwan, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Taiwan, Chung Yuan Christian University Taiwan, Ecole des Mines de Nantes France.

Program Educational Objectives
  1. Graduates will have competencies to work and to conduct research in a broad range of industrial sectors and be capable to apply and develop knowledge and techniques used in Industrial Engineering and Management area.
  2. Graduates will have readiness to pursue advanced degrees in professional or academic oriented education.
  3. Graduates will demonstrate abilities to play important roles at the operational or managerial level at various organizations.
Students Outcome

The PEOs of the IE&M master’s program become the basis in formulating the Student Outcomes. Based on the aforementioned principles, the IE&M master’s program has agreed to adopt the ABET basic 11 engineering criteria as the program’s Student Outcomes (SO) i.e. SO (a) to (k). In addition, and as a main distinction to undergraduate program, a new student outcome (i.e. SO l) was formulated and added. This student outcome ensures that master’s program graduates should have more capabilities than those of IE undergraduate program, especially related to the ability to develop and execute research activities in industrial engineering and management area (SO l). The 12 Student Outcomes formulated for the IE&M master’s program to achieve the program’s PEOs are as follows:


  1. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to industrial engineering and management area.
  2. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  3. an ability to design and/or manage a system, component, or process consists of people, materials, equipment, information, and energy to meet desired needs within realistic constraints
  4. an ability to function on multidisciplinary or cross-cultural team.
  5. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve industrial engineering and management
  6. an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  7. an ability to communicate effectively.
  8. the broad education necessary to understand the impact of industrial engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  9. a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning.
  10. a knowledge of contemporary issues relevant to industrial engineering and management.
  11. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for industrial engineering and management
  12. an ability to develop and execute research activities in industrial
    engineering and management area.
Study Overview

The history of Master Study Program of Industrial Engineering and Management, Bandung Institute of Technology (from this point forward, IE&M-ITB refers to Master Study Program of Industrial Engineering and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung) was started in 1978. This master study program is an extension of the Undergraduate Study Program of Industrial Engineering (IE) that was officially established in 1971. IE&M has two student types, i.e., regular student and fast-track student. Fast-track students are is students from the undergraduate programs of Industrial Engineering (IE) and Engineering Management (EM) of ITB. Before entering to IE&M, each fast-track student takes IE&M’s courses ranging from 6 to 12 credits. Then, after entering to IE&M, these courses are acknowledged.

IE&M has 5 (five) concentration options, i.e. (1) Manufacturing System, (2) Ergonomic and Performance Engineering, (3) Industrial Management, (4) Enterprise Information System, and (5) Supply Chain and Industrial System. The curriculum of IE&M comprises of 36 credits consisting of 21 credits of required courses and 15 credits of elective courses. All students are obliged to take the required courses and can select elective courses based on their concentration option.
